live recording policy

We hope to make selected live recordings of Litmus available in the future, either as CD releases or downloads from our website. However, we realise that some people will want to obtain more material than is officially released, and we've been asked if we have a policy on taping and trading.

Some artists have very comprehensive policies (like Nik Turner, who has made an excellent statement at http://www.nikturner.com/downloads/recordist.shtml) but we've tried to keep it simple. It's all down to common sense, really.

1) In general, making recordings and taking photos at our gigs is fine . . .

2) . . . but it seems only polite to let us know beforehand . . .

3) . . . and to send us a copy. CDs and photos can be sent to us at:
18 Wyndcliff Road
Charlton
London
SE7 7JX

If you want to send large e-mail attachments, please contact the Guv'nor first.

4) It's no benefit to anyone if we look or sound fuzzy, so try and make sure the quality is at least half-decent . . .

5) . . . but don't get in the way while you're doing it, or otherwise annoy audience members, other bands or venue staff.

6) Unfortunately some venues and events, particularly festivals, don't allow recording. Where this is the case, their rules have to take priority over our policy, otherwise we won't get any more gigs.

7) Recordings and photos can be traded freely, but no-one should profit in any way from this or we will be very cross. And the music and performances remain the property of the writers and performers at all times.

8) Have you bought our album yet? It sounds better than your audience tape. (And no-one dropped their plectrum/drumstick/trousers.)

We think this is reasonable, and we hope you agree. Happy recording!
